I’m currently receiving an error when upload load via a file request link. Works fine on my iPad but not on 2 different iPhones. Error says “something went wrong. Please try sending your files again”
Quick update, peeps: this should now be fixed!
Please let us know if anything comes up or if you have any other questions.
Thanks everyone!
File requests on iOS simply say "Something went wrong. Please try sending your files again."
I've tried with Safari & Brave in both regular and private browsing mode.
I've tried on 2 different iPads and 1 iPhone.
I've tried on 2 different WiFi networks and a cell network.
I've tried creating a new file request link.
I am able to upload files fine to the same link, on the same networks with Android and Windows devices.
All iOS devices I have tried have the latest updates.
Hi there @adumbelluser,
Welcome to the Dropbox Community! I'd be more than happy to help look into this.
Initially, awesome work on the troubleshooting - definitely helps narrow down the behavior you're getting.
Could you also let me know what kind of file type you're trying to add, as well as its size?
Thanks in advance!
Thank you!
The problem was discovered with a user's iPhone trying to upload relatively large image files. In the past this hasn't been an issue.
The files I am testing with are random screenshots in JPG format about 126 KB in size.
I've tried uploading them individually and as a group. Both ways fail.
I should also mention that in both the case of this user and my tests, the browser was not logged into a dropbox account.
Unable to upload a file to a file request when accessing file request from iphone 7 mobile.
I've sent out a file request that is then accessed from a gmail app on an iphone.
I am able to then see the file request, select a file for upload, but when I try to submit the file, Dropbox errors out saying: "Something went wrong. Please try sending your files again".
- Switching between Safari and Chrome browsers doesn't change anything.
- I've switched between wifi networks and my phone data, but it doesn't resolve it.
- I've restarted my phone and tried accessing again.
- I've tried on both incogntio and normal regular mode.
I've tried the same file request on desktop and it successfully uploads the file.Any idea why?
Hi @swongfb - welcome to our Community!
At first, could you walk me through the exact step you take to do this and send me a screenshot of the error you get so I can investigate further?
In addition, could you try to request the desktop mode of your browser and try again?
Let me know what you find!
Thanks for checking that out for me, @adumbelluser.
Could you also try to request the desktop version of your mobile device's browser and see if that does the trick?
1. I have an email sent to an inbox which includes a file request url.2. As a recipient, I go into my Gmail app, and access that email.3. I click on the embedded email link.4. I access the File Request page where I'm prompted to "Choose Files"5. I choose my file from my phone.6. I'm prompted to put in my first name, last name, and email.7. I click "Upload"8 I receive this attached error
[IMAGE LINK IS BROKEN AND CANNOT BE DISPLAYED].
Thanks for the additional information and the screenshots @swongfb!
Could you let me know if you get the same error when you request the desktop mode of the browser you're using when accessing this file request?
To do this on iOS 13, once the mobile site loads up, tap on the ‘Aa’ button on the left side of the URL address bar and request the desktop website.
Let me know the results!
Desktop mode works. However, I need to make sure this works on mobile mode. Any ideas?
Glad to hear that @swongfb.
At this point, I'll need to ask if the problem persists after you've cleared your browsers' cache and with no extensions or plugins running.
Keep me posted!
That did it! It's kind of an odd solution. I wonder why this would have changed recently?
Thanks for the help!
Unfortunately that did not work. I cleared my Chrome History.
I tested on another iphone X device, but we received the same error.
Did a little more mobile testingIPhone X, iOS 12.3 - does not work.IPhone 7, iOS 13.1 - does not work.IPhone 8, iOS.12 - does not work.Samsung Galaxy S9 works.Could there be something specifically related to iOS / iphones?
I’m having issues uploading artwork to my request files folder. It works fine uploading from laptops, but not mobile. (Tablet and phone). On mobile, it looks like it’s uploading (goes all the way to 100%), then this message comes up. “Something went wrong. Please try sending your files again.”
Thanks for checking that out for us, everyone! Much appreciated.

Do you have an ETA on soving the IOS issue?
Thanks for nudging me back here, @thelonchair.
Although I can't exactly pin-point the exact timeframe for this, I can see that my colleague has replied to your email.

Works great now, thanks!
Glad to hear that, @thelonchair.
