I want to clear all the Recent file list, there has no clear function please advise how to clear the list. Thanks & regards
Swe Tin
This post is being offered to help any other Dropbox users that find themselves in the same situation I was in regarding cleaning up (not necessarily clearing) the Recent's list in the mobile version of Dropbox.
My situation:
File originated on mobile and put in local Dropbox. Sync occurred so file propagated to desktop, online and mobile installations of Dropbox, as expected.I deleted the file using my desktop Dropbox. The online version of Dropbox moved it to “Deleted files” section (not Recents). I guess since I didn’t manipulate the file with the online version of Dropbox, it didn’t consider it a recent file. Just speculating.Although the deleted file was no longer in the file list on mobile, it did remain in its Recents list. I’m calling this a paper-trail. (History of activity but no actual file)Trying to clear the paper trail on the mobile device by selecting and deleting an item from the Recents list resulted in the following error since the file was no longer present: "Deletion Failed There was a problem deleting “xyz.pdf"
My Solution:My solution was to uninstall Dropbox from the mobile device and reinstall it. The paper trail for the deleted file was purged and all files that resided in the Recents section of the online version of Dropbox were sync’d with the mobile Recents list. No more broken links to missing files on my mobile device. The Recents list was’t clear but it was cleaned-up and sync’d with online Dropbox.Although Dropbox hasn’t implemented a way to delete or clear the Recents list on mobile, they should at least add an option to refresh so it accurately reflects what’s in the Recent’s list online without having to uninstall and reinstall the program. It seems the mobile Recents list is the only thing that isn’t directly synchronized with the true state of its files.Dropbox, if you’re listening, a “Clear Recent Items” option should exist on all platforms and be propagated throughout the account or at the very least, effect the local list of recent files where the option is selected.
Hey @Mike_T20, thank you for taking the time to submit this! Very helpful and very much appreciated!
Thanks, I followed the steps exactly but it doesn't work for me
What if we have some personal identifiable things that we don't want to show on the "Recent Files"??
It's really quite unbelievable they can't (or won't ) add this simple feature. I'm starting to look at alternative systems because of this. Clearly they aren't paying attention.
There is an existing thread for this issue, I'd recommend adding your comments and up vote it over there...

I dunno if this workaround has already been posted for this issue but what I've done is (from the mobile iOS app) created a new folder in my Dropbox, moved all the files being displayed in the recently viewed tab that I did not want to be shown from their original folder to the new folder I just created. Went back to recently viewed and they were all cleared out. I guess it just boils down to how many new folders am I going to create (how frequently am I going to be opening those files?)
It has been two years with no response from Dropbox regarding this critical security issue (save for "we love to hear from our customers"). I am not feeling the love. Every other professional coding body on the planet seems able to pen a simple clear-recent-items script or select-landing-page option.
Dropbox knows we want and need one. Moerover, they know that a default landing page with all recent files displayed (and their confidential filenames showing !!!) is a grave business issue for end users.
My early adopter loyalty is flagging fast. This is your last chance Dropbpox. Your two years of apparent indifference and obvious inaction are up.
Fix it!
please?
BEasy to do. Go to menu, select resent watched, select each one to delete by holding down either select button on fire stick or mouse until select check mark is displayed. Over on right top side, click on trash can. Gone. This is for deleting on Mobdro.
Hi Littlepete, most of us know how to do a one-by-one deletion, but the multi selection you are refering to did not work for me. Maybe it was too cryptic for me )-:
Yes please allow us to clear recents... This should be a VERY simple feature to produce. I may stop using Dropbox if this is not enabled.
Agree 100%

Why does this issue show as Solved? Is that why it is still apparently being ignored by Dropbox after more than 2 years and 444 votes?
Wow! It only took 2 years, 2 months, and 2 days, but it's finally here!! Hide recents option has been added! It's not very intuitive, but hey it's better than nothing!
At last, and well spotted Bliss G! I have just updated and tried it (on iOS) and it works!
same here! We can now at least hide the recents. Tested in iOS only so far. Thank you!
Beyond disgusting that we have to put up with forced recents with this app. Unethical at best. I want a DropBox that allows me to set It up the way I want to use it . NOT the way the moron programmers have set-up there proverbial spyware
I’m fully updated on iOS and still don’t see the “hide recents” feature. Combined with the inability to hide photos or photo thumbnails it’s blatantly obvious Dropbox has no regard for privacy features. If this isn’t fixed by iOS 11 launch I’m migrating everything to OneDrive and taking as many people as I can with me.
@JDsantos: The hide recent feature now (happily) appears on my iPad (iOS 10.2.1), but (sadly) not on my iPhone (iOS 10.3.3).
Both iPad and iPhone were updated to run the same (new) DropBox v.62.3 app which released on August 31st.
I am reporting the oddity/bug to the Dropbox development team now. I'll keep you apprised you as details arrive.
Hey all
This thread may interest you in regards to the 'hide recents' - https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Mobile/Previous-Dropbox-ipa-file-Downgrade-app/m-p/240403#M95
"The option to hide Recents was not removed permanently. It's been temporarily disabled for some users as we investigate a crash, and should be re-enabled soon."
"Soon."
Here goes another 2 years guys!
Also need the ability to hide certain folders from populating the recent list. I have settings files and other stuff being automatically copied into Dropbox that complete junk up the recent list to the point that I can't even use it for files I'm actually working on.
I don't understand why this feature was ever added without the ability to turn I off. It actually pops up in work everything I look at at home without the option to clear it. Major privacy issue. Why on earth would I want this?? I've always used Dropbox to backup and sync files between devices. Not as some social platform to show everyone every photo I view. Going to cancel my pro account unless this is fixed!!
This is a serious problem. I would not have used Dropbox had I known about this oversight.
Used Mobdro App for Live streaming..!!
I am glad I am not the only one in need of this functionality. For the love of all that is Good and Holy, please make it happen on both the mobile app and especially the windows desktop version too. I cannot believe that I am considering moving to Google Drive because of that minor feature that causes so many privacy issues!
