Unsure why, but a folder I generated online and then sent some files to, won't appear on any of the computers selective sync window. Using Mac latest version, 3.8.3. I can't untick that folder. I've tried renaming it, etc but it doesn't help.
We had same problem. Here is solution
1. Log in to www.Dropbox.com using your web browser.2. Click on your name at the top right corner of the page.3. Click on "Settings".4. From the "Profile" tab, scroll down to the section titled "Preferences" and uncheck the box next to "Include me in early releases" if it is checked.
5. Then, use the following link to install the latest stable version of the Dropbox desktop application:
https://www.dropbox.com/download
I ended up changing the location of my dropbox folder, which was on a non-C drive, and it started working again.
I have a similar issue... I have several folders (including files) that are syncing correctly. But, I don't want to sync these folders to my MacBook Pro for space reasons. However, the folders are not showing up in the Selective Sync settings so I can't uncheck them...
Suggestions?
Thanks,

Just for the head count: I'm having the exact same problem here.
BOTH on my personal and on my (kinda new) Business accounts.
Someone from Dropbox really need to comment on this and show that they are taking this serious – not just "have you tried rebooting?"
So this appears to be because the folder list displays and then continues to load more folders but has very little feedback. I thought this was a problem and then i noticed in tiny font on the top of the window it said "Loading more folders..." I waited 10m and eventually my folders showed up.
Same problem here for over a year now. Everytime I use these settings, it needs to reload the entire folderstructure for about 30 minutes. Please fix this.
I changed the Proxies setting to NO PROXY, and the folder list instantly populated.
Thanks for the suggestion, this didn't help. Still can't see "Users" or get to subfolders.
I am having the same problem,
my selective sync started not showing all folders recentlytried to restart Dropbox, didn't helptried to unlink Dropbox, and link again, didn't helotried to uninstalled Dropbox and install againfine, now it's downloading ALL my files on Dropbox to my local drive....
it seems this problem has been a while,
Is there any dropbox engineer trying to fix it?
Yup, this worked!
I reported this issue to Dropbox support, and they taught me exactly what you said.
Thanks!
Hey @odessavid,
Thank you for the heads-up on that, much appreciated.
Usually, upgrading to the latest stable version or downgrading to the stable version if you are on a testing beta build will resolve any Selective Sync issues you may have experienced.
If you need to ask more about it, please let me kow in your reply!
Kind Regards,
JaneA

Hi, I'm having the same problem not syncing a folder. I checked the settings, and I am not a beta tester. Not sure where to go from here... please help!!!
Sorry, sure. I have a folder labeled "_Programs" in my C: drive on my computer. It does not show up at all under the folders to sync under "Selective Sync" in Dropbox. Does this help? Thx!
Sure- just getting used to this thread. Would I need to start it over, or is there an option to change this to a new thread. Sorry for the dumb question- thanks!
This fix worked for me - finally. I had a "-" hyphen in my folder name. I removed it and it finally synced. Thank you!
Been using Dropbox for years from my Mac. Now hooked old Windows7 machine and I can see three of my folders but not the fourth, which is my current project.
No clue why. If it were a synch issue, I would expect to have a message indicating that synch (with Win machine) was in progress.
And we had a colon ":" in a folder name causing that folder not to appear or sync in Windows. I removed the colon and now its visible and syncs beautifully.
I solved the issue by changing the name of the master directory not being synced on the webpage. hope it also works for you.
This worked for me too, which is bizzarre, because I have a few folders in my DropBox with a hyphen in the folder name. It just was affecting this new folder that I'd added to my DropBox which wasn't showing up. Replacing the '-' with a '_' did the trick. Thanks!
I have the same problem. Can't download the folder (too big), can't share it with myself, can't add to my Dropbox. Yet there it is sitting there online.
Hi guys i found that any folders that finished with a full stop --- . --- would not sync. I suspect that explorer figured that it was a file without a file extension and would not show it.
