A friend told me to open her Dropbox file because she had been having trouble sending me something. I never heard of Dropbox. So I opened an account. Now what do I do to find the file she wants me to open from her Dropbox account?
She needs to either invite you to a folder containing the file, or send you a share link to the file.

You can also create a folder and invite her to it, then she would place the file in that folder and it will sync to you.
