"Dropbox Updater" task periodically keeps running and app always gets updated to beta version

Hi,

I'm on Windows with a Dropbox Basic account. Periodically, a task named "Dropbox Updater" keeps running and never seems to finish or stop.

Related background: "Early releases" is OFF in my account settings on dropbox.com, but the desktop app keeps updating to beta (.3.) builds.

Timeline:

1. The app was on v277.3.4925 (beta series).
2. I reinstalled using the official installer downloaded from dropbox.com.
3. After reinstalling, it showed v274.4.4905 (stable series).
4. A few days later it updated to v277.3.4952 (beta series) again.

Questions:

• Why does the "Dropbox Updater" task keep running and not stop?
• Could it be related to being on the beta (.3.) series even though Early releases is OFF?
• How can I stay on the stable (.4.) channel?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, @hayata.

To get to the point, can you please try the steps in this article to see if that fixes both the "Dropbox Updater" issue and the fact that the app keeps reverting to the beta version?

If it doesn't, let me know and we'll go from there.
