Can I safely delete the second Dropbox folder in my Library CloudStorage directory?

Hello, it looks like I have two dropbox "folders" in my Users>Library>CloudStorage folder (see attached screenshot). The blue Dropbox icon, when double-clicked, goes to my current Dropox folders and files. The second highlighted folder (Dropbox (7-5-26 4/31PM) seems to open a second set of the same files, although not recently updated. Can I safely delete the folder Dropbox (7-5-26 4/31PM) and its contents? iv'e attached screenshots of the User folder and both Dropbox paths.

Hi @sschmidt, thanks for providing these details.

Is it possible that the date shown on that Dropbox folder, July 5th 2026, is when you linked this device to your Dropbox account, or when the Dropbox desktop application updated to the File Provider version?

Seeing as how the Dropbox settings in your screenshot show the normal Dropbox folder, it should be safe to delete this extra CloudStorage folder without it affecting your current Dropbox account.

I've attached a screnshot of my sync tab.

I added two files:

One to the to the folder with the icon entitled "Dropbox"

One to the other folder entitled "Dropbox (7-5-26 4/31 PM)"

The file added to folder "Dropbox" appeared on www.dropbox.com

Finally - what changed. I recently migrated from a 10 year old macBook Pro to a new MacBook Air (using a Time Machine backup); possibly on the date shown in the dated dropbox folder title 7-5-26.
