Getting an installation error with code 1073740791 on Windows

Hi there,

I saw other users also had this issue. I uninstalled dropbox from my PC and am now trying to reinstall it. No matter what I try, I get the following:

I've tried all different things from the web and advanced install and all.. Nothing works..

Any ideas???

SOLVED FOR ME: I've unistalled manually and deleted all directories with my file explorer, and I've downloaded and old versión (Dropbox 240.4.8493 Offline Installer.x64.exe) from here:

My Dropbox install suddenly stopped working. I did an uninstall - but when I try to reinstall, I get a failure with message error code -1073740791.

Details:

System details:

Windows version: [Windows 11 + version 25H2 /build 26200.8655]
Dropbox installer used: full/offline installer from Dropbox

What I have already tried:

Uninstalled Dropbox normally
Restarted the computer
Downloaded and ran the official Dropbox full/offline installer
Ran the installer as Administrator
Tried silent install using /S
Ran:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Ran:

sfc /scannow

Tried deleting Dropbox leftover folders/configuration, including Dropbox folders under AppData/Program Files where present
Checked for old Dropbox service DbxSvc
Tried installing again after restart

Current result:
The Dropbox installer still fails with the same error code: -1073740791.

I solved it by resetting Windows.. but that is a total headache… I don't understand why that is necessary

Resetting windows has a problem in my opinion: a future new version may cause same problem again.

Just sharing my experience: the older v256 installed fine on my setup, but the latest v260 and v258 give me a 10737... error.

I tried v256 and got the same error. Maybe I'll try further back…

That worked for me as well. Until Dropbox fix this fault!
I turned off automatic updates, so it doesn't break itself.
