How can I confirm that my external drive is being backed up?

I have an external hard drive, which contains priceless business files and three book manuscripts.  I can't tell from looking at my account whether or not it is being backed up!  How can I check to be sure my external hard drive is backed up to Dropbox?

You can check this by opening the Dropbox desktop app on your computer and going to Preferences → Backups. If your external drive is connected and included, it should appear there with a backup status (like “up to date” or “in progress”). You can also log into Dropbox web and look for a “Backups” section in the left sidebar to confirm what’s being backed up. If it’s not showing there, it likely means the drive hasn’t been added to backup yet or the connection was interrupted.

Have you checked your backups page here?

You should be able to see your backed up drive and the status of the backup there, and of course see the names of the files that are being backed up.
