How can I share a file with someone who doesn't have a Dropbox account?

Hi everyone. I've never used dropbox. It was requested I send numerous documents via Dropbox. So I made two files. I shared it with two people via dropbox itself. I can see their avatars next to mine.

However, I also sent it via Gmail link to someone who does not have a dropbox account. I need to know if because this was not toggled ON that it was NOT sent via email.

It sounds like you created a link for editing then (there are two types of shared links; one for editing and one that grants view-only access). If you switch tabs and go to the other setting (that appears in your screenshot above), can you see the link there?

If yes, then you should be all set.

Hi. Thanks for the response. I hit the copy link symbol on top right and pasted it into an email and sent it.

But I'm worried that since this wasn't toggled to ON that it wasn't sent correctly????

Hi @Himain! Hope you’re doing well, and thanks for posting here.

If the user doesn't have a Dropbox account of their own, you'll need to create a shared link indeed and manually copy and paste it in an email (or another message) for them to access it.

Do you mean that you followed the steps above to create one, or that you shared the files with them this way?
