I'm seeing a 400 error when opening an Excel file on my macOS desktop app.

Hi - I've been trying for the last couple of days to open a file in dropbox on my iMac.  It’s a file I access al the time and was working fine before I went away on vacation last week. While away I accessed the file on my iPad but now that I’ve returned I can’t open it on my computer anymore.  I’ve downloaded it and renamed it and uploaded it again and still nothing.  It just gives me a message with a picture of a target with an arrow in it and it says Error (400) and then says ’something went wrong.  Don’t worry, your files are still safe…’  Any ideas what this is and how I fix it?

Just for clarification, did you upload it directly to the site, instead of using the Dropbox desktop application to sync the file to your Dropbox account?

When you downloaded the file to your iPad, did you download it via the Dropbox mobile app, or instead open or edit the file via another app?

@Nancy - thanks for the response.  I did not get any errors on the iPad.  In order to download it, I just saved it to my computer.  I did not rename it when I initially downloaded it.  I just saved it to my computer and made some changes to it and closed it.  Then I changed the name and uploaded the new file to dropbox to see if that would fix the issue but I’m still getting the error.

When opening the Excel file on your iPad, did you encounter any issues or errors?

How did you download it from your Dropbox account, before renaming it? Do you mean that you moved it out of your local Dropbox folder on your Mac computer? If yes, did it still give you an error then?

I’d also like you to copy and paste a screenshot of the 400 error you mention on Dropbox.
