when i upload a file with my friends they see the file with a different font
Hi there,
We make no edits or changes to files - ever - be it images, text, size, fonts, anything at all. The exact data that was uploaded to our server will appear online and will sync down to any other connected devices. As a result, Dropbox wouldn't be the cause of what you are seeing.
When fonts change:
- the machine viewing or previewing the document must have that font installed, should the OS not have that font installed then it may default to another one.

Dropbox doesnt change files.
However, what it may do is show a preview of the file with as close a font as it can. If they download it they will see the actual file as long as they also have the font on there machine
Ok, but when I store a doc written in Ariel in Dropbox and export it to pages on my ipad it has changed the font to a totally different one i.e. from a sans serif to a serif. That's quite a difference. Would it be better to store in rtf format?
Thats more than likely the exporting to Pages.
Dropbox does not alter files. At all. In any way.
I'll check there!
I just uploaded a powerpoint presentation to Dropbox, and the font on my title pages has changed. Is there any way to show the original font?
I uploaded PowerPoint presentations to Dropbox and when I downloaded them back to my (same) computer, the font has changed to GREEK. I suppose Dropbox doesn't change files, but has anyone experienced and found a solution to this kind of problem?
