Someone uploaded 286 GB to my file request but I can only access 103 GB

Question or Issue

I asked for a File request. When I checked in my dropbox folder it was 103 Gb.

The folder size was not increasing anymore, so I thought it was fully uploaded on the other side.

I started working on the file, but I realized it was missing files (a ProTools Project)

When I asked the person if it was fully uploaded, she told me yes, and the files were a total of 286 GB.

Now nothing uploads on my side, it is stuck at 103Gb.

Do I have to start over ?

Based on what you’re describing, the file request upload likely stopped or failed before it finished on the sender’s side.

If only 103 GB uploaded successfully, Dropbox will show your files as up to date even though the full 286 GB never arrived. You do not need to start over. Ask the sender to re-upload the missing files using the same file request link or a new one, and the additional files will be added to the folder.

Ok but the sender tells me she uploaded the full 286GB... So she is mistaken?

Are you sure you sent them a file request or did you perhaps invite them to join your folder, so they can upload their files?

I'm asking since the upload limit for file requests is 250 GB and that's only available to specific plans.

Could it be possible to ask this person to send you a screenshot of how the file request and its size looks on their end?

Actually, the files that go through are less than 3 GB. All the audio files that are over 3 GB didn't go through... Is it because of my plan? or it's DB limit ?

Here, you'll see the upload limits for each plan.

Keep in mind that these limits also wouldn't allow the uploader to upload more files than 2 GB or 250 GB (depending on your plan).

So, I'm interested to know how they were able to upload 286 GB.

I'm not going to ask, it's already a lot to ask someone to send me such a large file. Maybe she thinks it all uploaded...

Hey @Lapieuvre1 - sorry to jump in here, but have you considered using a shared folder instead of a file request?

Yes, I always used the shared folder before, I didn't know Dropbox requests had limitations. So next time i'll go back to it.

What I don't like, is having to add the person to my family, then when I have the material, remove the person from my family... kind of annoying
