I am a very worried Dropbox user after 20 years.

I have two computers in case one goes faulty.  I downloaded one document unto computer number 1In a different location I switched to computer number 2 but was unable to work on the same document

I realised that comp1 had not saved the document on DB and was offered the chance to backup the contents of comp1 which I did.

I then backed up comp2 hoping to have them in a common location where I can access the document I was looking for.

Sadly, the documents have been moved to an unknown location and cannot be accessed on either computer.

Would you please please restore my documents to their original location where I can reach the same document from either computer as it amounts to many years of work.

Hi 

Unfortunately this isnt how Backup works. It doesn't create commonality between folders on different devices, that isn't something Dropbox has ever done. It simply moves things in to the \Dropbox directory to sync them. 

You can follow https://help.dropbox.com/organize/dropbox-backup to stop backing up your folders, however, you will probably need to manually put the files back where you want them.
