Can't access files to download them due to space.

Can't access files to download them due to space.
I downgraded to the free version since I have been retired for almost three years. I was told that I wouldn't lose my data so that I could slowly go through it all to download it.

However, there are two folders that each have 16GB in them. Dropbox won't allow me to access them at all. I get an message box "Get More Space".

I have deleted everything else in my Dropbox except those. I would like to download the information (personal photos), then delete.

How can I do this without upgrading? Thanks!

I get this error when I click to open the file, or try to join the folder. I don't know why it's in the shared folder since they are my personal photos.
I appreciate your help!

The files within it may be yours, but the folder itself is a shared folder that's not added to your account, and it won't let you add the folder because it's larger than your available space.

Are you sure the files you need were in a shared folder? Have you tried accessing them from the All files page, rather than the Sharing page?

I can't find them in ALL FILES.

For some reason, I cannot delete all my folders so it's a big mess. I delete them and they come back. I deleted everything in the folders - I thought. It's super confusing since they keep coming back.

I did find another folder that I didn't see before so I am downloading that right now.

I can't understand why my iphone photo backups would be in a shared file. But if they are, are you saying that I will never be able to get to them without paying over $100 to upgrade? I wouldn't have a clue who they would be shared with because it makes no sense for me to share personal backup photos.

I'm still trying to figure this out. In my subscriptions, it says my files are in All Files. But if I click on Shared Folders, it still says I have Camera Uploads in there. The other folder has disappeared so I don't understand that. It's super confusing. Ugh.

There is nothing in my ALL FILES. Somehow, I now only have one folder (CAMERA UPLOADS) that I can't access. I'm so confused!

@Peggy F.2, the “Camera Uploads” folder is generally a personal (not shared) folder that’s created upon enabling camera uploads on your device(s).

However, since this folder was manually shared with another user at some point, and it wasn’t added to your Dropbox account while you were still upgraded, I’m afraid you’ll need more space indeed to add it back and download the files.

Even if you have no files/folders saved on your account at the moment, you still need 16GB of total Dropbox space to add it back. If you don’t wish to re-upgrade, you can try adding more Dropbox space with referrals instead to cover the difference.

Thanks Nancy. I wish the staff at Dropbox would have warned me when I emailed them that I wanted to cancel. I asked how long I would have to clean out my Dropbox and was told indefinitely - but I wouldn't be able to add anything.

Chances are, these photos are already backed up but I have no way to know without looking at them.
