Can't install Dropbox on Mac

I've repeatedly tried troubleshooting with different ideas on the web but I don't see a case like this - after downloading the dmg Dropbox installer from the standard dropbox installation page, it opens up normally, and I double click on the Dropbox icon to install it, but then my Dropbox app is unresponsive and keeps hopping up and down in the dock and doesn't launch. I can't seem to figure out what is preventing it from launching - please let me know if there are any solutions!

Could you try fully rebooting your device, and quit all open apps when it boots up, and then try installing the app from scratch again?

Hi @juy27, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try an advanced reinstall of the app using the steps in this link?

Hi Jay, thanks for your response. Unfortunately, I still seem to be stuck on the step where Dropbox is meant to launch. I went through each instruction on this page https://help.dropbox.com/installs/advanced-reinstall for Mac, but after around step 6, I wasn't able to get any further. The main difference seems to be that the dropbox installer is now "Dropbox Offline Installer" but now the Dropbox icon doesn't even appear at the dock after double-clicking on the installation icon. Any other ways to go about this problem? Again, thanks so much for the help!

Unfortunately it still isn't working. Would other apps/malware affect the installation at all? This is a separate issue I have been investigating, but I'm not sure what else would be preventing me from launching the Dropbox app.

Hey @juy27 - sorry to jump in here, but could you try the offline installer from this page directly and let us know how it goes?

If you have any 3rd party apps running on the affected computer, please quit them all to make sure they're not interfering somehow.

Hey! I was just about to try this, but realized that the original solution worked (albeit taking longer than anticipated)! I opened my laptop to find the greeting Dropbox window. Thank you so much for your assistance!
