Help! I was doing a massive organization of all my dropbox files (on my desktop, just moving things into different folders within the Dropbox folder, renaming files, deleting duplicates) ... Some things were taking a while but at a certain point I noticed that tons of the folders have red x's and the files within those folders won't open. I get an error that says: "The operation couldn’t be completed. Resource deadlock avoided."
A couple things to note:
- I'm on a MacBook Pro, running OS Sonoma 14.2.1 (this just got updated today, a couple hours before this!). So maybe there is something with the update?
- My MacBook is also full in terms of memory (the hard drive is full). A lotr of my Dropbox files are "online-only" but with all the viewing, cutting, pasting, I might have run into some kind issue with the operations, where they just couldn't be performed anymore
- I've emptied my trash, cleared my cache, deleted un-used apps ...
- When I login to Dropbox on the web, it looks different (it looks like how it looked yesterday, but doesn't reflect all the cleanup and reorg I did today).
Help! I don't want to lose files of course. And I've done so much cutting, pasting, renaming it's getting confusing. One of the things I did was move a lot of stuff over from icloud to Dropbox, to have things more consolidated. Those things are no longer in icloud. So simply reverting to yesterday's version will be bad bc I will lose all these new icloud files that i tried to move in.
Appreciate your help. OF COURSE its midnight on Friday so there is no Dropbox support for two days. It actually seems insane they do not have better support given how expensive the business plan is. But in any event I really appreciate any advice you can share!
