How much storage space do I need to download a 90 minute video? Is the basic plan enough or do I need one of the paid plans?
Hi @jensteve74, I hope you're doing well!
That depends on the free space you have available on your account, and also the size of this video.
You can see more, in regards to your account's quota here. Provided you need more space, you can always go with Dropbox Plus, which is a great option for individual users.
If you have any questions, I am here!
What exactly are you trying to do @jensteve74 ? If its just download and not edit from another person ask for a shared link instead and it wont use any space up 🙂
If you need edit access you'll probably need to upgrade as 2gb is almost certainly not enough.
Hi Mark, thank you for the response. I need to video a youth basketball game--about 90 minutes or so on my iphone 12. Then save it to dropbox so that my husband can then rewatch it. I'm assuming I will need more than the 2GB but wanted to make sure I would only need to upgrade to the 9.99/month plan.
The storage space required to download a 90 minute video depends on the resolution and frame rate of the video. Higher resolution and frame rate will result in larger file sizes and more storage space.
For example, according to one source, a 90 minute video recorded in 720p HD quality at 30 fps will occupy about 5.4 GB of storage space. However, a 90 minute video recorded in 4K quality at 60 fps will occupy about 81 GB of storage space.
If you want to calculate the storage space for a specific video format and device, you can use this online tool to get an estimate. You just need to enter the video duration, resolution, frame rate, and device type, and the tool will show you the approximate file size and storage space.
