Dropbox won’t let me access my files due to reported full storage

I have 2 gigabytes of free space. I don't intend on paying for extra, since I don't use dropbox that much. What is annoying, is that I can't access my shared files, which take up 1 Mb out if the 2 Gb that I have, because dropbox says "you're storage is full. Please pay us money". Very irritating

Shared folders use up the quota of all involved, so, if it isn't letting you add the share to your account you do not have enough free space to accept it. You either need to get more, or, get the shared folder reduced in size.

Dropbox doesn't prevent you from accessing the files in your account, even if you're over your storage. It won't, however, allow you to accept a new shared folder if that folder will cause you to exceed your storage space. You need to have enough available space in your account to hold the shared folder.

If you're out of space and want to accept a new share, you either need to upgrade or remove files from your account to free up some space. I'd suggest checking your Backups page first, as the backup feature can easily fill up an account. Also check your Plan page to see your actual usage to see what's actually filling up your account.
