Hi. I'm a bit confused since I can't edit a document in our Dropbox Team Business Account using Google Docs, or Sheets even if my Google account is active and signed in. I don't know if I am experiencing this issue.
Hey @Mon0600, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community!
Can you let me know what happens when you try to open, and edit your Google Docs via Dropbox? Do you get any errors?
Do you have a paid G-Suite account to edit the files? It'll be helpful to also know which platform you're using.
Keep me posted!
Hello, Megan!
Every time I open a file this one appears "Sign in with Google Workspace to edit business files" to which I never encountered this kind of issue since I use DropBox last November 2022. If paid Google Workspace is required then how about Microsoft Online can I edit a file in real time?
Hi @Mon0600, are you definitely signed into a Google account with the same email as your Dropbox email?
Can you send me a screenshot of the error message you're receiving, please?
I am also experiencing this issue. I cleared my cookies and cache. I checked any chrome extensions. I am signed in using my google account.
Hi @Jill999, we're currently experiencing issues when editing Google Docs. Our teams are investigating this matter in more detail in order to resolve it.
This is still an issue. Any word on when it will be fixed? I tried everything that I read from these forums.
Hey @Jill999, sorry to hear that.
Can you let us know exactly what kind of issue you're having?
If you're getting any errors, please send us a screenshot as well, so we can have a visual.
Below are two screenshots of what is happening when I try to edit files. I have never signed in with a google workspace account. I only have a gmail personal account. All of a sudden, this is the prompt that I get.
Hi @Jill999, sorry to jump in here!
Do you happen to be on a Dropbox Business account, or have you upgraded recently? If so, you'd indeed need to link a paid G-Suite account to edit the files.
Still having this kind of issue. I'm wondering and trying to figure out why we need to have a paid G-Workspace since our client provided this DropBox Business Plan. I want to know if is there any other ways to mitigate this issue.
Hey @Mon0600 , I hope you're doing well!
If you have a Dropbox Business plan, as you already noted you'd also need to have a Google paid plan- Google Workspace, to integrate both, since Google has that requirement.
Let me know if you need anything else!
My coworker is unable to edit or export a Google sheet that she created in Dropbox (web). She cannot edit anything in the folder that contains it nor can she create a new doc within the folder. She has been using these docs for months. She tried to use another web browser, use an incognito window, and clear the browser cache. Although she is the one who created the folder and everything inside it, none of the users who have access to the folder are able to edit anything as well.
I've been having the same issue too. When I click on a file I get asked to sign in to google. When I do that it just refreshes me back to the google sign in. I can't get any further than that. This has only been a problem since I set up the migration in a few weeks time.
Hi @khopkins, & @reynolds_bec, welcome to our Community!
Can you clarify if your coworker gets any specific errors when trying to edit, or create a file in that folder? Are the options grayed out, or does something different happen?
Does that behavior happen to only one of your Google documents or multiple? If you could also clarify the Dropbox plan she's using at the moment, that'd be amazing.
Also, Reyolds, have you tried this from a different browser, or from a private browsing window, to see if you get a different behavior?
Let me know more!
The docs are stuck on "View only" even though she created them. When she tries to create a new doc, it never loads
She is using Dropbox Business Advanced. We do not have Google Workspace, but we never have so I'm not sure why this suddenly happened.
I'm having exactly the same issue.
I was completely find until yesterday and now nothing will help get access to my own files.
I am logged into both DB and my gmail, both with the same email.
Hi,
This issue is still happening for me for all my google documents that are within dropbox.
I've tried in chrome and safari on 2 different laptops. I've cleared the cache, disabled all extensions and tried incognito and the same thing happens. My browsers had no available updates.
When I select the file in dropbox it opens a new tab, but it's like it refreshes itself and asks me to sign in. When I select the sign in button the page just refreshes so I get stuck on the log in page - even though when I'm already logged in to google on my browser.
Also to note that I just have a personal dropbox account, not a business one.
Hi all, I hope you're doing well!
@khopkins you mentioned that she has a Dropbox Business plan. In this case, she'd also need a Google paid plan- Google Workspace, to integrate both, since Google has that requirement.
@emmabean, can you clarify if you're using an individual or Business plan, please?
Alsok @reynolds_bec, are the files directly saved to your account, or within a shared folder? Also, is your Google account connected according to this page?
Hi Meghan,
I am on my company's business plan.
I'm having exactly the same issue as the one described by reynolds_bec.
Hi @emmabean, and have you confirmed with your Business that you also use a Google paid plan- Google Workspace, since this is a requirement to open these files?
Also, @reynolds_bec, we'd definitely love an update on this, thank you!
I do use a Google paid plan- Google Workspace
Hi @emmabean, are you signed into the same email as your Google account?
If you have any screenshots of the error, feel free to attach them back here, however make sure that your personal info isn't displayed.
I am logged into both on the same email
This is the screen im stuck on a look for
Hi @emmabean, what Dropbox Business plan are you on according to this page? Have you already tried contacting the support team for further assistance on this matter?
