Hi all,
Our sync icons next to the folders/files are missing on my computer. I cannot see if the files are local or online only.
I have resinstalled dropbox, and they were back for one day and have now dissappeared again.
Please help!
Hey @modelling architecture, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Could you please send us a screenshot of the app's exact status as shown in your taskbar at the moment?
If you happen to be running 3rd party apps that might be looking at your files on your computer, you may want to take a look at this discussion too.
In any case, please keep me posted!
thanks for getting back to me. Please see image. this is also happening on my
laptop.
Thanks for the extra screenshot, @modelling architecture!
Did you recently have an OS update, by any chance?
Also, what’s the app’s current app version? You can check this by hovering over the small Dropbox icon in your system tray.
Any updates on this? I have the same issue with the explorer icons.
New system. Clean installation. Windows 11 Pro version 22H2.
Explorer Dropobox-specific icons missing.
Is it theme-related?
Tried with different Windows 11 themes, but with no luck.
Please further advice.
Thank you.
Found the solution here:
https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Create-upload-and-share/Where-have-my-syncing-icons-gone/m-p/354329/highlight/true#M29557
This just takes you to the main forum page and says "This has been archived, view related content below." That has nothing to do with the issue.
Jumping to conclusions based on a 6-month-old link that's now archived? How can you verify now it wasn't a valid solution back then?
Take out your frustration on someone else!
Hey @Ioan Vlad V., do you remember the steps you followed to resolve this on your end, to see if they are helpful to @ct as well?
Were they perhaps these ones?
Those steps ended up working. Just all previous links send you to a dead end link
I didn't mean to take out frustration/be a **bleep**. If that's the way it came across, apologies.
Multiple same questions have a link that takes you to the same dead end. That's all.
Glad to see that these steps worked for you, @ct .
Some threads will get archived after a while, but I'm glad you were able to figure it out and resolve the issue.
If you need anything else, please let us know.
Have a great weekend!
I have the same issue. No sync icons displaying either in Files Explorer or Dropbox online.
Hey @Ripples88. The Dropbox website doesn’t show any syncing icons anyways, so it’s normal to not see any there.
Regarding your desktop app though; are you seeing the Dropbox icon in your system tray?
Can you let me know your app’s version and its syncing status?
Hi Nancy, Thanks for your reply. Brent from Dropbox tech support had said that apparently if one is also using OneDrive, (which I am), Windows imposes a restriction. Windows has a limit of 15 overlay icons that Windows Explorer can load, and the operating system reserves 4 for its own use.If there are more than 15, then the Dropbox icons or context menus may not show. To fix this and move the Dropbox sync icons to the first 15 positions....Follow the steps in the following article to open your Windows 10 registry editor (applicable to Windows 11 also):- https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-to-open-registry-editor-in-windows-10-deab38e6-91d6-e0aa-4b7c-8878d9e07b11
