Move files without properties by default

Is there a way to set a default so Dropbox doesn't prompt me about properties?

I synch the pictures from my computer to Dropbox .

When I try to copy them to Google drive, it gives me a message that it won't copy some properties.

I click the box to say okay, and it copies the files perfectly for me.

I love that Dropbox renames the files with a date/time stamp, but the extra click every time move files is annoying.

Are these properties part of the file itself, or are they located in a separate hidden file?

Currently, there isn't a way to remove properties on files via Dropbox.

Is this the prompt you're referring to?

If so, that's not from Dropbox. It's from your operating system.

I'm sure not, but I have to ask.

Onedrive doesn't have the issue.

Hi @DanaLinder, when you're referring to downloading, are you talking about downloading from the site, or when you let files sync down to your machine via the Dropbox desktop application?

The application.

When I plug my phone in, it asks me how I want to handle the files.

I say "Dropbox" and it starts the download.

Is this using the camera upload feature, or another method? A screenshot of this prompt would help greatly.

Hey Dana, hope you don’t mind me jumping in.

From what I understand from your screenshot, camera uploads is enabled on your desktop app, so each time you plug your camera to your computer, Dropbox is asking whether you’d like to upload these files to your account.

You can control these settings via the Backups tab of your app preferences.

The problem is that when I try to copy the files from Dropbox to my Google Drive it gives me a message that it can't copy all the properties. I say okay, and the file moves perfectly, but it's an extra click every time I copy files.

I'm trying to find out if there is a way, either in Dropbox or in Windows, to not get that message.

I'm currently using OneDrive and that has no issues.

Dropbox renames my files, which I love, but I don't want to put up with the warning message.

So, I want to know if either there is a setting in Dropbox that will allow files to upload without those extra properties, or a setting in Windows that will allow the copy without the warning message.

Since it renames the files, which I love, I was hoping there was a way it could do other processing as well, but it is what it is.
