Hello,
I cannot understand why dropbox says "not enough space" even though I have 2 GB and only 1 file with 35kb is saved. This is the first time since many years that this happens. 😕
Thank you for your assistance!
Regards,
Andi
Hey @Sonotka, I'm here to help!Â

When you visit your account's plan page online, what do you see there? Is it possible that you've enabled any Backups?
Let me know more!
I have only used 3% of 16.9G of space but I am constantly told I don't have space to import and upload my files despite them only being megabytes in size.I need to be able to plug a camera in and have the files automatically pulled from the camera onto my HD.This message prevents this from happening and is a real pest. Why, when I have acres of storage space am I told I don't have enough left?

Are you sure the message is referring to the amount of space available in your Dropbox account, and not the amount of available hard drive space? Remember that the Dropbox folder on your computer is a regular folder like any other and it takes up space on your drive. If your drive is full you won't be able to import files from your camera to the Dropbox folder.
Hey @FixMyRun, sorry to jump in, but can you clarify if you're noticing this behavior with the latest stable version of our desktop app?
If you do, can you also check if this is happening with other devices too? Apart from the camera you mentioned that is.Â
Hi there! I am using a regular Dropbox. It is used only for approx 760MB but it tells me that it is using 124.1GB of 2GB. I can't find any other files that are taking spaces there. Can anyone help me with this?
Hi @HK5, welcome to our Community!Â
Is it possible that you have any shared folders or files taking up space to your account?Â
What do you see on your end, when visiting the plan page?Â
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!
Hey @HK5, thanks for the screenshot, but I'm afraid it isn't giving us much to go on.
Can your check your plan tab, to see if any of this space is taken up by shared files?
Also, is it possible that you enabled our backup feature at some point?
Hi there! I have uninstalled Dropbox from my PC. I have the same issue with any other PCs. Now, I sign in to Dropbox online and I can see the same information. Also, I don't understand what is "regular file" because I have only one shared file using which is approx 760MB.
Hey @HK5, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Regular files are the ones you own and have stored in your Dropbox account. Are you not seeing any folders or files when you navigate your account on the web?
Also, did you use the computer backup feature at some point in the past?
Do you see anything listed on this page perhaps?
Hi Walter!
Thank you so much for your suggestions! I finally found out what was wrong! Yes, it was backup drive, and it was automatically backed up. Now I have many space available! Thank you so much for your help!
No worries @HK5 - I'm just glad I could point you to the right direction.
Have a lovely weekend ahead and see you around the Community!
good afternoon, please tell me, my account has folders of only 1 GB, and synchronization does not occur, it says that there is not enough space. What shall I do?
Im best guess is that dropbox is backing up one of your drives.
Suggest to check what Dropbox is backing up? these will be called "regular files" and will not be shared with anyone
I found this feature super frustrating, ie my share files whould be below my account size. But then i would have some regular files, which used up all my dropbox space. These regular files where just back from my hard drive- something i didnt realize was happening
You will find back in the top left corner. You will find 9 dots. click on the 9 dots. Back ups are the 4th option down on the list
hope this helps
Check what files its backing up?Â
it may be backing up other files that dont require backing up
Hope this helps
When this issue appears, @FixMyRun, what does your plan tab report? Does it show enough free space?
Does the message only appear when you plug your camera in to your computer?
And does your Dropbox account have enough space for all the photos/videos in your camera?
I always have enough space and there's always enough space showing on my info on the Mac and also on the online view.It appears every now and then when I plug a device in that dropbox is trying to draw files from.I log out and then log in again and it's ok.Â
Hi @FixMyRun, are you connecting an external drive to your machine, which contains more files than the quota on your account?
