Trying to upload big mov files to Dropbox Professional account but error messages tells me that these files are not taken by Dropbox and cannot be transfered...anybody knows what to do?
I figured it out. I did not notice that some of the files were not local but in the icloud... I had to down load them first to drag them or upload them to dropbox. Might work for you.
Hey @Filmmaker26, let's see what we can find on this.
I'll just need a few more details to make sure that I have a better understanding of your concern:
Keep me posted!
I have the same problem but with .jpeg files. Never had this problem before. Drag and drop files into the dropbox folder in Safari... and the upload is supposed to start automatically... but today, nothing happens at all. If I figure it out... I will let you know. I don't think its a problem with file types. I have done the same with .mov files many times.
Hi @ErikLewis, thanks for nudging us on this thread and for keeping us in the loop.
Great work with the troubleshooting!
If anything else comes up in the future, you know where to find us.
In the meantime, I hope you have a great day ahead!
Hmmm. I'm dragging a large .mov from the finder into a dropbox folder in Chrome browser. Receiving this error message. I'm on a workstation that doesn't belong to me so I can't install the OSX dropbox application. Nothing in the cloud as of yet, so that workaround doesn't apply to me. The file is on an external USB harddrive. Need to upload this tonight so this error is rather irksome
Hey there @paulwedel; thanks for joining the discussion and sorry to hear you're having issues with uploading this file to our website.
May I ask exactly how large the file is? Do you get the same results on other browsers?
If you could include a screenshot of any error you might get, I'd appreciate it.
Keep us posted, Paul.
I'm trying to upload .mov files under 2GB to my dropbox and I keep getting an error message "file upload error". it runs for about 30 minutes, and the time counts down accuratly, but somehwere in the last 10 minutes of it, it fails every time. No matter if I try to upload it using the upload file button, or clicking and dragging, into a filder, or straight into my files. .Zipped or not. Fail every time. This is a huge downer for me as someone umeployed by Covid and trying to share my demos with potential employers. Please help.
Also, there is more than plenty of space in my Dropbox.
I am having the exact same problem with an Mp4 file of about 650mb, I have plenty of storage space. I uploaded similar files a few months ago, though they were about 200mb.
I should add that I tried both the desktop and web-based versions
Hi @TGNY, I'm sorry to hear about this.
Are you uploading the files directly to the Dropbox site, or via the mobile app? What steps have you tried so far?
I have tried both the web-based browser and the desktop app. I have not tried mobile as the video is on my laptop
What error are you getting in the desktop app when you hover over the Dropbox icon in the system tray/menu bar?
Have you allowed time for the video to upload, since it does depend on your bandwidth in the app, and the speed from the ISP?
I am in the process of uploading again, it shows varying speeds from 80-180kbps. I did a speed check on the upload speed and it is 1.25mbps at my hotel room. It's been uploading for 25 min now.
If you're referring to 1.25mbps for the upload speed, then it should approximate to 156.25 KB/s.
Assuming there isn't an increase or decrease in speed, then for a 650 MB file, it should take 69.33 minutes to upload.
Hi,
Since March we have had issues with uploading files.
.mov, .zip, etc...
Error upload, just at the end.
so after 1-6 hours, uploading 13-50 GB, error.
after 3-4 tries, it usually works.
Using Mac OS High Sierra and Mojave (file System is APS).
Same issues when using external HFS+ drives.
Error while using Firefox and Chrome, and the DropBox desktop.
I'm experiencing the same thing. My large MOV. file is on my computer and external hard drive. It's telling me it can't upload because it's a large file in the cloud. What is this madness? Please, help.
Sorry to hear you're having issues with this @Clomax; could you post a screenshot of the exact error you get?
Hello,
I am also having issues with uploading MOV files. It says the following files are not supported and could not be uploaded. Do the rest of you also have the same issue? I am using the web based version as my computer is too small to download the app.
My files are dowloaded onto my PC and dragged into the dropbox folder but still do not upload. I don't know how to fix this.
I never did find a fix for my issue. I just kept trying, and eventually it would work. But only after many failed attempts. There was no explanation or help from Dropbox. I ended up cancelling my subscription after that. Sorry I caouldn't be of more help.
@vonwoo Oh that is such a shame that Dropbox were unable to find a solution after they were commenting... @dropbox have you been able to find a solution for this since March 2020? I used to be able to upload mov files prior to this, so I don't know what has changed?
Regards
Rocky
Hey there @Rocky006; thanks for joining the discussion here.May I ask if you've tried any other browsers than the one you used originally so far?
I had same issue. This is so frustrating.
Had so many issues, and I am so nervous whether the files I have uploaded before have anything missing. I click "Skip" for the warning when it pop up error message, although at that time is different type of files.
By the way the uploading speed for dropbox is very slow.
I had 2TB Dropbox subscription, and indeed regret it!
Just chiming in to note that I'm also experiencing problems getting an .MOV file to finish uploading. Using Firefox on Windows, drag-and-drop method, file uploads to 99% and just hangs forever on that last 1%...
Hey @motionben, sorry to hear about this. Have you tried clearing your browser's cache or another browser?
