You don't need to verify your existing email to be able to change to a new one.

I had the same problem and was in a vicious cycle of Dropbox requiring me to verify my account by clicking a link sent to my email (which was misspelled and not valid). The only solution I could find was to delete the account and create a new one with proper email address.Hope this helps.
