Selective Photo Upload on iOS

Hi,

There is a feature on iOS to upload all photos taken and delete the source photos. However I only want to upload some of my photos and I also want to decide into which folder they go.

In the moment the steps I have to do are:

- go into the dropbox app, create a folder

- select and upload the photos I like to this folder

- remember which photos I had uploaded

- go to my photos app and delete the uploaded photos

Now besides the risk to delete photos I might not have uploaded, this process is quite clumsy. Is there any faster way to achieve the same result?

I also thought about writing a new iOS 12 siri shortcut, but dropbox has no integration yet (apart from the standard cloud features that dont do what I need). Is this going to come soon?

In the first question of my Shortcut (Name the folder) you can enter the entire path.

E.g. Horseriding/Summer 2018/Chatanooga

It doesn’t matter if it exists or not. In case it doesn’t exist, Shortcuts will create it, and will deploy your pictures in it.

Give it a try.

Well, from iPad is very easy to do it directly, from the app Photos, taking profit from “Side by Side” and “Drag and Drop” features, both available since IOS 11. Just be sure you have Dropbox in your Dock.

I enclosed a video to show you a demo for situations in which the destination folder previously exists.

In IOS 12 universe you can do it with this Shortcut:

In IOS 11 is the same, but called Worflow.

That's about how far I got myself, but the problem is, I need to select the folder where to put the photos, as my folder structure is at least one level deeper than just /photos (e.g. it's more like /photos/events/ or /photos/horseriding/ or /photos/job)

So I'd like to select where to put the subfolder first (whether it goes to events, horseriding, job or whatever other subfolder within dropbox) than create a subfolder within this folder for the new photos. I couldn't find a way to do that. I would need some sort of file-destination dialog to get the path within dropbox first...

Yes that's a about 90% solution. Still, choosing the folder would be cooler, especially because I dont remember all exact folder names of my folder structure, but for the most part this solution works.

I added an automatic date-prefix and will use this solution until there is a full dropbox integration (with visual folder access) maybe one day...

I have 2 suggestions for you to get visual folder access prior to deploy the photos (or files) there. Both of them display better in iPad than in iPhone, but still possible in both.

One is very simple, with just an easy variation on the Shortcut.

The other, requires additional software setup, and a little learning, but is free and results are perfect!
