I am no longer seeing either of: Make Online Only Make Available Offline options in finder. Here are 2 screenshots to possibly answer questions you may ask
Hey @Steadiclarke - thanks for letting us know about this.
Could you please clarify your computer's exact OS version and the version and status of the Dropbox desktop app as shown in your menu bar?
If this persists after rebooting your computer and/or quitting and relaunching the app, could you send me a full-page screenshot so that I can confirm that you're taking these actions inside your Dropbox folder and that there are syncing icons on your files as well?
Thanks!
Using Dropbox for Mac 26.6.2 (Tahoe). Dropbox options disappeared from right-click dialogue. I quit, deleted, and forced quit dropbox activity and reinstalled. It worked for a while then disappeared again. Now after following the reinstall troubleshooting process, it does not fix my problem. Most of my files are online only so this has become debilitating as I have to go to the web version, download my files somewhere else, etc. This is not a viable workaround and I'm starting to panic.
Hey there, @FritzMiller, I'd be happy to help with that!
Let's jump right into this. To help me troubleshoot, could you please share the exact Dropbox desktop app version you're using, and its current syncing status? You can find this information by hovering your mouse over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar, next to your Wi-Fi icon.
Additionally, are you running any third-party software on your computer that might be monitoring, syncing, or backing up your files? If you could also provide a screenshot of the options you see when you right-click on your files within the Dropbox folder, that would be very helpful.
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!
Hi Megan. Thank you.
Dropbox 268.4.4124
I use iCloud and OnDrive.
Sorry, that was supposedo be "OneDrive".
Hi Meg
Hey @FritzMiller, thanks for the added info!
The second screenshot you provided appears to be from OneDrive rather than Dropbox. Could you please confirm that the Dropbox desktop app is running on your device? Since a new stable version (v269.4) has been released, please try updating your Dropbox app using this link. Additionally, does the issue persist when you temporarily pause or close OneDrive and iCloud? If it does, please try signing out and back in to the Dropbox app to see if that resolves the problem.
Lastly, could you try force-quitting Finder and let me know if that helps? You mentioned that you've already tried to force quit the Dropbox activity, so I am not sure if these are the exact steps you followed.
Yes, I was just showing you OneDrive in my top bar. I will try these steps and get back to you asap.
Megan, Get Info on that installer says "268.4.4124". I've already tried installing that version with no luck. Where can I find v269.4?
I deleted, quit the processes in Activity Monitor, deleted Dropbox, reinstalled from your link (v268.4.4124). Still nothing in the right-click menu for Dropbox.
Also quick OneDrive and kept it from relaunching. Also Relaunched Finder under Cmd-opt-esc dialog.
I tried a bunch of other things after searching help and google. No luck. Is there an old preferences folder I need to delete? Can I delete them all out of Library or will that break everything?
Here is what is in "Dropbox" in > Library > Application Support
Hi from me as well, @FritzMiller, and thanks for the additional info.
Just to confirm, does syncing work on this computer otherwise? Meaning, if you add a test file in your Dropbox folder, does it sync to your account on dropbox.com?
Hi Hannah. Yes, syncing is functioning normally on my computer. I confirm files instantly added to the web/online version when added to a dropbox folder on my desktop.
Thanks for testing that, Fritz!
One more thing, do you happen to have any security apps installed (VPN, anti-ransomware)? If so, can you temporarily close them, then close and re-launch the Dropbox app, to see if it helps?
Also, if you right-click on any file that's outside your Dropbox folder, do you see a "send with Transfer" option?
Hannah, I do use a VPN called "Convenant Eyes" but have had it for years and years and never a problem with Dropbox.
No. There is not a "Send with Transfer" option on any external files.
Thanks for checking, Fritz.
I'll take a bit of time to look into this and I'll get back to you with an update soon!
Hi again, Fritz!
I just sent you an email, so we can gather more info and take a closer look at this privately.
I'll see you there!
