Hi everyone, it's been around two months since I started struggling with Dropbox slowing my computer down extreeeemely while syncing on my MacOS. Ive been using Dropbox for a couple of years now, and I never had this problem.
Based on available help on Dropbox and Reddit forums and official tips from Dropbox themselves, I have tried:
Installing an older Beta-version of Dropbox which was supposed to fix this (Official Dropbox tip for solving this issue). It did, for about 2 days. Then the new version was automatically downloaded again, because guess what, Dropbox does not offer a toggle to turn off automatic updates of software. Nice.
Adding Dropbox into Spotlight > Search Privacy, to prevent Spotlight from searching these locations, supposedly solves this problem. Yeah, it didn't solve the problem at all. Nothing changed.
Temporarily stop syncing – yeah, but the problem is that I need to sync files during my workflow as a designer.
I have circa 200K files on my Dropbox. Most of the files are online-only in my Finder. I am using not even half of the storage I pay for in my subscription. Theres still more than 100GB of hard drive space on my computer. I have a MacBook Pro 2021 in great shape.
Dropbox pleeeease, how can I solve this problem?
I'm seriously thinking about switching to Apple's iCloud to get rid of this never-ending headache and terrible User experience. I seriously cannot work like this; it's affecting my business.
Thank you,
Tony
