After updating my Google password, I'm forced to reinstall the Dropbox app

Question

So I had an issue and was forced to update my Google password. The issue is that this has screwed up my Dropbox, which I use to communicate from my physical office to my home office, as well as an iPad and an Android phone.

For some reason, it's forcing a reinstall; I cant get it to sync my office to my home office. I wasted over 2 hours on chat yesterday to truthfully accomplish nothing, and I really want it the way it was. When I bought the new computer and logged in the first time, it just gave me access.

Chat frustrates me as it's so slow to get anything done, and I feel like I lost 2 hours to accomplish nothing yesterday. Does anyone have a solution?

You mentioned that you declined the option to resync your files, could you clarify what message gave you the option to decline syncing your files?

After re-indexing your files, was your account able to sync normally?

This also just happened to me. I have DB desktop on my Mac. I changed my password on Google and Dropbox forced me to log out on my computer and re-log back in, but when I did that, it asked me to completely resync my DB (4GB of stuff) as if I were starting from scratch. I declined all that because I've had this nightmare happen before, but it still forces re-indexing the entire DB.

I mean seriously, just changing your Gmail password forces this sort of disaster onto your users? It's totally unnecessary. Fortunately this happened on a weekend and not during the work week, and fortunately I didn't opt to resync my entire DB, otherwise I'd be looking at a day's worth of work locked up in a resync too large for my local drive to accept anyways.

The last time this happened it was a Dropbox error caused when I tried to upgrade my storage plan and DB copied my entire server locally to my computer, didn't have enough room, and then forced me to revert to my existing plan. At this point it's quite obvious that DB has major issues with basic things like logging in and out, and even upgrading a plan.

Could you also send me a screenshot of the Dropbox desktop app's exact version/status as shown in your taskbar?

Have you tried signing out of the account in the app's preferences and logging in again with the updated email address?
