Dropbox Windows 11 UI does not fit on my screen and some functions are inaccessible

Dropbox worked fine on my Windows 10 laptop, but I guess I had an older version of the application, because when I installed it on my Windows 11 laptop, using the same monitor and the same display settings as the old laptop, the Dropbox user interface does not fit on my screen. As you can see from the image below, a number of options are unavailable (including preferences and Quit). I'm using a 1280x720 resolution, because everything is too small or skewed when I use 1920x1080. I know I could change my screen resolution to get Dropbox UI to fit (I think), but the idea of changing my resolution for a single app seems crazy! I have not run into this issue anywhere else. Is there a solution within the Dropbox app that would fix this (maybe in Preferences, which I'd be glad to change my resolution for one time so that I could get to it)? Otherwise, does anyone know if the Dropbox developers and management are aware of this issue?

Can you please let me know the Dropbox desktop app's exact version as shown in your taskbar and if this persists after quitting and relaunching the app and/or rebooting your computer?

If it does, could you send us a full screenshot of how it looks on your computer when you're using the app?

Have you tried reinstalling the app since you first noticed this?

No, I have not tried to reinstall, as I just installed it a few days ago. Is there a later version than the one I have?

(By the way, this makes exiting the app very difficult. I do it by Tabbing down 5 times from the Dropbox logo. That gives me this:

Quit is right below Help. Though it's not visible, there is a sliver of the container the command resides in that is clickable there. And that's how I escape its clutches! (Or I could kill it with Task Manager, but who knows how safe that is.)

Hi @gfnov, you can view the majority of Dropbox options by using Ctrl+Click on the Dropbox icon in the system tray, including preferences and quit.

Regarding the display itself, are you certain that you're using the same settings and DPI for the screen?

Thanks for the Ctrl+Click tip: that really helps. As far as the display settings, I was having trouble getting things to look right on my external monitor after setting up my new laptop, so I reconnected the monitor to my old laptop and checked the display and accessibility (called something else in Windows 10) settings. I wrote them down and used the same ones on my new, Windows 11 laptop. So yes, I'm sure I'm using the same settings. And I just checked back on the old laptop and the same issue is now present there, with the Dropbox UI looking about the same as on the new laptop. (I probably last used Dropbox successfully on the old laptop about 7-10 days ago.)

I'm curious: has no one faced this issue besides me? Before I checked my old laptop's settings, I tried using 1920x1080 resolution, scaled at 150%. At lower scaling, I had problems with the text size in some app windows. The 150% worked for me, but I had the UI issue with Dropbox and remembered that I didn't have the issue on my old laptop, which is why I went to check my old laptop's settings in the first place. (This is all a result of aging eyes; I had no issues at 125%, 1920x1080 just a few years ago.) My current settings are optimal for my eyes, and for all other apps, I can move and resize their windows, and sometimes set view size (depending on the app)—but not Dropbox. It uses some other kind of interface. I don't know why, but that's beyond my control.

Thanks for the update.

The issue can be resolved by making DPI scaling adjustments directly to the Dropbox application without making the change to your complete system.

Please follow the steps below to make these changes:

Open Windows File Explorer.
Copy and paste this file path in the search bar: C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client.
Right-click on the Dropbox application in this folder.
Select Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab.
Select Change high DPI settings.
Check the box labeled Override High DPI scaling behavior.
Click the drop down menu and ensure System (Enhanced) is selected.
Click Apply to save the changes.
Restart your device.
Open Dropbox from the system tray.

This should resolve the display issue for the app, let me know if this helps!

I followed your instructions. It had no effect on Dropbox. I checked to make sure that the changes I made in Properties were still in effect, and they are exactly as you stated.
