How can I cancel the syncing process of the Dropbox desktop app on my Mac?

I am a realtor and I use drop box to share video files of houses to my out of town clients.

I started running low on hard drive space on my Mac. I realized I had lots of videos in dropbox but also on my local hard drive. So I selected a bunch of file (about 685 GB) that I wanted to move to online only. However, it's giving my warnings that it doesn't have HD space to perform this and is estimating between 30 and 100 days to complete the sync. I can only pause the sync. I think if I could cancel it, I could select a smaller set of files and get the HD space freed up.

Hey @mc80aea - thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community!

I'm afraid there's no way to cancel a sync process to make your files online-only at this point, since moving them now might lead to syncing issues and/or even data loss.

If it keeps giving you errors about your hard drive space, you can try adjusting your bandwidth settings and/or logging out from your account through the app's preferences and/or quitting the app and relaunching it.

In any case, please let me know of any updates.

I logged out of the desktop app and then back in. That got it!
