Dropbox only synced through 2023 on new laptop

Question

I set up Dropbox on my new MacBook Pro laptop (running Tahoe 26.4.1) , and it's only showing files saved or edited through mid-2023, when there have been many, MANY changes since then. When I view my Dropbox folder online, it only shows the same files through mid-2023. However, my old laptop is still has all of my old files. I'm not getting any error messages on either computer. I've now moved the correct folders out of my dropbox on my old laptop just in case it syncs such that I truly lose all my more recent files. Thoughts on how I go about fixing this?

It sounds like your old laptop stopped syncing changes at some point, especially since you mentioned the Dropbox desktop app is running a quite older version (140).

Since the changes are located on the old device, I suggest—provided the OS allows it—that you try to update the Dropbox desktop app to the latest version. If that isn't possible, you will need to manually upload the files via our website, or transfer them to your new laptop to update them using the updated app.

Yes, I only have one Dropbox account and since all the contents synced up to 2023, I don't think this is a problem with having multiple accounts.

The menu bar on the new laptop shows that "your files are up to date." The version of the app on the old laptop is 140, and the version of the app on the new laptop is 250. The only items on the events page are a report that I added the Dropbox app on Apr 21, linked my new laptop, and joined this forum.

Hi there @liquidsunshine - sorry to hear about your syncing issue.

If you made sure that you're looking at the correct Dropbox account, can you please let us know the Dropbox desktop app's exact status and version as shown in your menu bar?

Also, when you navigate your account online, do you see anything reported in your events page?
