Hello everyone,
I am a freelancer, and I have been using Dropbox Transfer since its launch as an alternative to similar services, precisely because it is included in my paid plan.
And because it allows me to offer my clients a simple and more professional experience, also thanks to the customization options.
In recent months, however, I have encountered this issue several times on the recipient side.
Several of my clients have reported that, once they open the link, they are quite insistently prompted to create an account or sign up for Dropbox, even though their only goal is simply to download the files.
I understand there may be a rationale behind this choice, but in practice this kind of experience creates some confusion and, in some cases, also puts me in a difficult position, as the service is perceived as less immediate than expected.
I started using it, preferring it over WeTransfer, precisely because it felt very professional.
However, when Dropbox takes a different direction, using it also as a way to promote sign-ups, over time this starts to feel a bit off.
For this reason, I was wondering whether others are experiencing the same kind of feedback from their clients, or if there are any settings or workarounds to make the download process more straightforward for recipients.
My only goal is to allow my clients to download my “file packages”.
Thanks to anyone who would like to share their experience.
