How can I re-link my desktop app to an existing Dropbox folder?

Hi, I de-activate a laptop from my dropbox account and now I wish to re-link it to the dropbox account. The problem is that the app wish to create a new dropbox directory on my hdd and I have already one (with a lot of files downloaded loccally). How can I manage to keep the old directory with the new re-link?team to help you.

You can relink an old Dropbox folder to your existing Dropbox account (assuming it was already associated to the same account as before) by doing an advanced reinstallation of the Dropbox desktop application, and making sure to follow Step 11.

It will still take a little time to reindex the files and sync any changes that were made since you last linked the folder, but it would be much faster compared to syncing the entire account from scratch.

In the Mac version of "advanced reinstallation" there's no step 11. Is this going to cause problems?

Hi @Jared-Harris. The 11th step that’s missing from the advanced reinstall steps for macOS is technically covered by steps 9 and 10 in the instructions, so you should be all set.
