Dropbox taskbar icon on Windows 11 doesn't allow drag and drop anymore.

So I'm sure this has been solved previously and posted here, but I just can't find the post (I've searched and tried various AI for answers too).

Windows doesn't seem to allow drag and dropping files onto the drobox taskbar icon anymore.

I'm sure someone created a workaround though,

It might have been something like creating a file exlorer shortcut, then changing it to open dropbox folder, then pinning that to the taskbar.... But I can't remember - help appreciated!!!

OS: Win11 x64 24H2

Were you able to drag and drop files to your Dropbox folder via the taskbar icon until recently and this suddenly stopped? Was it after a recent update when you noticed this?

If you open your local Dropbox folder, are you able to drop files in it directly?

Finally, I’d like to know the app version of your desktop app.

Drag and drop functionality to the taskbar stopped a long time ago (I'm sure Dropbox knows this, it's well documented on various websites).
I had previously used a workaround to overcome this, but the workaround has recently stopped working too (I can't be sure when).

I'm fairly certain (but not 100%) this was the original workaround I used:

Open the Start menu, find the Dropbox app, right click and select Open File Location (normally C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Dropbox).
Drag the Dropbox shortcut somewhere (e.g Downloads) and make a copy.
Select the Properties of the new shortcut and change the "Start in" value to be the path of your Dropbox folders (normally C:\Users\username\Dropbox).
Then Right click the shortcut and choose "Pin to Taskbar".
Then you can drag files onto the shortcut on the taskbar.

However as mentioned, this workaround recently stopped working too.

So I was trying to find the post about the original workaround to see if my method above was correct or not (because it's not working even if I recreate it) and if there were any additional posts to the thread with updates on how to workaround this problem.
The desktop app version is 219.3.4324.
There's no problem dropping files into the Dropbox folder.

Just for clarification - the Taskbar is different to the System tray.
I'm referring to the Taskbar.

Apologies for the delay, @thedriver; I just wanted to double check this with the team and see if there’s another option.

As the drag and drop function is no longer supported when it comes to the pinned Dropbox icon in the taskbar, I’m afraid there’s not much more I can suggest on my end.

However, since there may be another user who has found a workaround to this, I’m leaving the thread open so that they can comment directly.

Actually, you don't have to create a shortcut. Once you've installed the Dropbox app for your laptop or desktop computer, you can simply right-click on Dropbox.exe and select "Pin to taskbar." A Dropbox icon should appear almost immediately in the taskbar. In Windows 11 Pro, that file is located in Local Disk (C:) > Program Files(x86) > Dropbox > Client
