Best practice when changing to a new computer?

I have been advised to remove everything from my current computer and reload the Mac0s operating system with a new one. (or scrap my desk top computer and buy a new on) ,. Will my files in dropbox folder, which are automatically synced to drop box be preserved so that I can restore them to the new or repaired computer or do I need to find another back up (to USB?) or a different cloud storage system.What do I need to do to preserve my files?

Hey @mandywr, thanks for posting your question to our Community!

When changing to a new computer, the best thing to do to avoid any accidental deletions, is to completely remove Dropbox from the old computer.

To do that you'll need to either sign out of the Dropbox app, or delete the computer from your connected devices here and then uninstall Dropbox.

Then, when you get the new/repaired computer, you can simply install the Dropbox app once again and let the app sync your files.
