Can I allow Dropbox to migrate to my new MacBook Pro with Migration Assistant along with everything else?
Hi there, @Diane V.2, thanks for posting!
To be honest, although the migration assistant will migrate your Dropbox files, the Dropbox app is a little bit more complicated.
So, it's highly likely that you'll see permissions issues or syncing issues after the migration.
I would suggest skipping Dropbox from the migration and just installing the Dropbox app and signing in to it on the new computer.
That way, the Dropbox app can correctly sync your files to the machine.
Should I totally remove Dropbox from the old computer before migration because when it migrates my Applications Dropbox would be in there?
Hey @Diane V.2! You don’t need to do anything on your old computer. The only thing you have to do is go here on your new computer and install the desktop app to your device.
After you’ve signed in, it’ll create a new Dropbox folder, which will sync your files to your new computer.
