Unable to resolve syncing issues on my Intel MacBook.
Dropbox support advised turning off the beta option and a reinstall but the issue remains.
Hi @markuk20, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Could you provide us with more details as to what syncing issues you're experiencing?
What version of Mac OS and the Dropbox desktop application are you running?
This will help me to assist further!
Sure, I can help you with that.
Monterey 12.7.1
187.3.5584
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks for the info. What issue are you experiencing when it comes to syncing? Please could you explain it in detail so we can assist further?
It has been hung up trying to update 3,197 files (39.3 GB)
Some Excel files were updated this morning but are still hung up.
Hey @markuk20 - sorry to jump in here, but could you send us a screenshot of the app's exact status as shown in your menu bar at the moment?
Have you tried fixing your hardlinks and permissions as outlined here?
Also, did you try the latest stable version of the app as a test to see if the beta version is the culprit here?
Thanks, Walter, sorry for the delay, I'm in Thailand.
I found that my new MacBook was set to beta, unchecked that, and installed the most recent app.
The Intel Mac was not running Beta
Now both are running 186.4.6207
I started both computers and the Intel Mac is still hanging.
The article that you referred me to is for Windows.
There is no obvious way to include an attachment to this real.
Currently, Dropbox is updating 220k files, 79.4 GB, and saying it will take 2 plus days.
Hi @markuk20, in the thread, there is the method to find the menu by holding the Option/Alt key, then you can click fix hardlinks and then fix permissions.
Thanks, Jay,
I tried both, same result.
The number of files that it is updating fluctuates but the 79GB (2 + days) does not.
Is there a next step?
So, the app is syncing, but slowly, or it gets stuck at a certain amount of files? Could you send us a screenshot of the app's current status as shown in your menu bar @markuk20? To do so, you can use the camera icon (insert photo option) within your reply's box.
Also, can you take a look at the app's preferences under the sync tab and let us know where your Dropbox folder is located?
Thanks for the screenshot, @markuk20.
Can you also take a look at this article that contains a lot of troubleshooting steps, to see if they help?
Make sure to especially check the steps in the article on how to give Dropbox full disk access.
