external drive backup stuck at 1 percent, changed from beta, started syncing, but now stuck at 24 percent for days... what can I do?
Sorry to see you're having this issue, @millerjg.
Are you doing this on a Mac or Windows computer?
What's the sync status and version of the Dropbox app at the moment?
You can hover over your Dropbox icon, to see this info.
Let me know and we'll go from there.
Hi @millerjg,
Let me see if I can help you out here.
There should be a status report for the app after you click to expand it, there will be a bar with text that says "Your files are up to date", "Syncing [filename]", "Syncing [x] files", or "Syncing paused until [x]"
Let me know what you find!
Thanks!
Sorry if you already tried this, but unplug then re-connect the drive, and let's make sure the connection works i.e. you can access the content on the drive from your computer.
If it's still stuck at exactly the same percentage, a screenshot of that is always welcome for any clues we might be able to spot.
yes, ive tried all that

Hey @millerjg, since it was the weekend and it's been a couple of days now, can you check and let us know if the issue persists?
Good morning Hanna – I am afraid the same thing is happened again – ext drive sync using DB v 201.4.5552 now stuck at 11 percent, and not recognising the file
s on the external disc that need to be synced (2+ days' worth) – deleted dropbox_ignore and recycle bin files, but still no sync – can you help please? – Gavin
Have also unplugged and reconnected the drive, and signed out and back in to dropbox on the net
Hey @millerjg, sorry for jumping in. How was the issue resolved the last time?
Also, I’m guessing this isn’t the same external drive as the one you had trouble with before, correct?
Problems with external drive not been recognized! – Had to uninstall and reinstall the app – this meant I lost my previous backups and had to start again! – There should be a rig-click functionality in Windows to initiate the backup on the drive – the current procedure is inconsistent! – Thank you – Gavin
