My backup has been stuck at 99% complete for days. How do I get it to complete?
Hi there @Homer, sorry to hear about this.
May I ask if you've tried rebooting your computer since you first noticed this?
What about clicking on 'view now' from the error shown above your backup?
Keep us posted please and feel free to include any piece of information you think might help.
Thanks!
Thanks for your response. I tried rebooting the computer, but it has made no difference. When I look at the sync issues, and click on "Go to File" for the various files, nothing happens.
By the way, I am using a MacBook with MacOS Ventura 13.4.1. The version of the Dropbox app I'm using is 177.4.5399.
Hi @Homer, it might sound trivial, but have you made sure that both your device, and the account itself have enough space to sync these changes?
Also, if for example you check the first file shown under Sync issues, and you rename it online, do you notice any difference? Does it sync this file then?
On Dropbox, I am only using 143.2 GB of 2.01 TB.
On my MacBook, I have 122.46 GB available of 245.11 GB.
I just quit and reinstalled the Dropbox app on my MacBook.
I can't rename the files that are not syncing because they are not on Dropbox.
Hi @Homer, happy Monday!
Is the app still stuck syncing the same number of files? Have you made sure the app's bandwidth is set to "No limit"?
I'd also suggest you sign out of the app, then sign back in. Also, if you visit your Backup page online, are you able to see the feature's status there?
Still stuck at the point when only 74 files are left.
I signed out of the Dropbox Mac app, uninstalled it, reinstalled it, and the backup still freezes at the same point.
As to the Backup page online, I see the Backup there, but I can't tell if it backed up everything or not.
As far as your "Have you made sure the app's bandwidth is set to "No limit"? " instruction, that link sends me to a page in Polish.
@Homer, feel free to send over a screenshot of your Backups page, and we can check it for you.
I also checked the link Megan sent and it loads alright on my end. Can you please try it again, and let me know if it works now?
I'm attaching screenshots of my Backup page, and what happens when I check on the "bandwidth" link. However, I did get to the bandwidth page when I used the "it" link in your follow-up email. I went into the Preferences and changed Upload bandwidth to No Limit. We'll see what that does.
But I see another problem. The Dropbox icon in the Mac menu disappears when I am using OneDrive. Isn't it possible to have Dropbox and OneDrive active at the same time?

Have you seen any difference after updating your bandwidth settings?
Also, have you always had issues with running Dropbox and OneDrive on your device at the same time, or is this something that changed after a recent update?
Changing the bandwidth setting has made no difference. The sync or backup (I'm not sure which) is still frozen with just 2 Mb left (see attachment). Are you able to tell if the backup is complete on your end?
I used to be able to run both Dropbox and OneDrive at the same time. Both apps have been updated in recent weeks, as has the MacOS, so some change to one of them must have broken something.
Thanks for the extra screenshot!
If possible, can you please temporarily unlink OneDrive from your computer, and let me know if the desktop app completes syncing now?
There may be an issue indeed with Dropbox and OneDrive overlapping, so I’d like to make sure that this isn’t the reason why your backup can’t complete.
Both computers stopped synching. The MacBook Pro with the same "99%".Switching the WLAN connection helped for me.
Thanks, I'd like to try that. Where do I find the WLAN setting on a Mac?
I turned on tethering on my mobile phone and clicked the WLAN icon in the menu bar. Once I switched the network, dropbox continued with its synchronization.
