Dropbox (backup?) folder taking up 1.6TB on the device.

Hi, so my Mac has been playing frequently ever since the major Dropbox update. And after a while of normality, my Mac is playing up again. And I’m 90% sure Dropbox has something to do with it. And I know this because every time I’ve had problem with Dropbox my Mac would slow down and the Bluetooth would continuously cut off.

Now, I’m seeing the same symptoms. I’ve deleted Dropbox from my Mac and going to the CloudStorage location, I noticed a Dropbox folder labelled with last year’s date taking up 1.6TB of space on my Mac. Is this a backup? I want to delete it, but I need to be sure.

Hey @Ovi A.1, if you don't see any icons there, then you can safely delete the folders without affecting your account online.

When you uninstall the app, the Dropbox folder isn't removed automatically. This is the culprit behind this.

Since you deleted the app, you should be good to delete the folder. However, here's what we can check, in order for us to be fully certain:

The content in the Dropbox folder that you see in the CloudStorage location, does it have any syncing icons next to it? If not, then you should be okay.

Also, do you wish to let me know more about the issues you came across, after updating to the new Dropbox for macOS?

No, there are no syncing icons next to them. My Dropbox storage is only 2TB. Two of these folders (four in total) equal 2.5TB (one is 1.6TB, the other over 900GB).

What could these folders be? They’re located in ~/Library/CloudStorage
