If I click "try again" it just continues to give me the same error. The previous screen was this:
If I click "not right now," it just sends me to my Dropbox folder on my computer.
Hey @Sergiolopezfineart, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
As a first step, please take a look at this article with some troubleshooting steps, to make sure that everything is set up correctly for backup to be enabled.
Let me know how it goes!
Hi Hannah,
It looks to be set up correctly.
Thanks for checking this, Sergio.
Can you try to see if you can enable it from our website instead, to see if that works?
Hi @Sergiolopezfineart, could you send me a couple of screenshots of what you see when you click on the page Hannah gave you?
I'd also appreciate some screenshots of the Desktop folder's properties, in order for me to have a look.

@Megan @Hannah
Thanks for the screenshots, Sergio.
Can you click on the "Try Dropbox Backup" button in that page that I gave you, to see if that allows you to set up your backups?
@Hannah I end up exactly where I started. Here is the exact sequence of events:
I click on the button:
I click on "Open Dropbox" and this is the next screen I see:
I click on "Set up":
And I get the same exact error that sent me here.
Hi @Sergiolopezfineart, do you have any apps or services currently accessing those folder when you're trying to activate the Backup feature, which moves the folders into the Dropbox folder?
could you try quitting all open apps and any other cloud providers to see if this helps?
Hi @Sergiolopezfineart,
I hope you are having a good day. I see that you have been having a little trouble getting your Backup set up. It seems that my colleagues offered some advice but we are still waiting to hear if this has worked for you. So, I just wanted to follow up with you today to see if you have managed to get your Backup working. Or, if you need further assistance, just let us know and we'll do whatever we can to help.
Thanks, and have a great day!
Graham
Thanks for the reply! Please don't hesitate to reach out again if you are still experiencing any issues when you get a chance to have another look.
Have a great day!
@Graham I'm still getting this same issue
Since you were able to migrate the Documents folder, it could mean that you found an app or service which prevent it from being moved previously.
Are you certain that all apps and services have been exited before trying to set up the computer backup for the Desktop folder?
@Jay Yes. I closed everything I could, went through the steps again, and am still having the same issue.
Thanks for the info, Could you try rebooting the device and immediately trying the computer backup setup for this folder?
Hi @Sergiolopezfineart, which OS do you currently use?
Also, I would like for you to locate your Dropbox icon, next to your WiFi and hover your mouse there. You should be able to see the version of the app there. Can you check, and let me know?
@Megan Windows 11, Dropbox version 166.4.2920
Hey @Sergiolopezfineart, thanks for clarifying that for us.
Would it be OK if we reached out via email to have a further look internally at this point?
