Dropbox version v110.3425 in macOS 11 is not showing integration in the finder menu. It is also not showing smart sync notifications in finder windows. Anyone else have this problem?
Tip: When dropbox icon do not appear, relaunch FINDER. (Right Click +Option is one way)
The TIP is not very useful when you have to re-launch the finder several times a day. As a dropbox business user for almost 5 years, I am very disappointed with the current state of the software.
Hello, some minor visualizations problems in desktop app here too.
Integration with finder in big surr shows menu with missing icons.
See image attached (a question dot instead the dropbox icon).
My desktop app is v113.4.507
The dropbox menu in the finder bar has no icon but a "missing signial" question dot. "menu
which version of Big Sur are you running @Tomcor ?
Hello @JOfE , I'm using Big Sur 11.1 !
Continuing to have this issue! I do not understand why randomly dropbox just stops during the day - it seems like when someone sends me a file with a link it break. Running the attached version
Situation got worse. Now dropbox menu is no more working.
Neither in the Finder Toolbar or in the Right-click-menu.
So bad :-(
Dropbox menu in Finder ToolbarNo more Dropbox in Richt-click-Menu, nor Dropbox Status Icons in Finder File lists
I wasn't aware dropbox had a toolbar option in the finder in Big Sur 11.1. I am on 11.1 also and there is no Toolbar icon available. This release is a mess.
Issue is in Finder I would say, after Force Quit and relaunch of Finder it works.
This has been a problem with Finder and Dropbox for some time. I suspect this is why Dropbox created there own finder-like app, limited as it is. The solution is for Apple and Dropbox to start playing nice together, or for Apple to improve its own cloud storage capabilities. I suspect the latter is the future. I restart the Finder 5 x a day to get it to recognize Dropbox. Microsoft and Google are also cloud options.
I solved! And I confirm from my side, it's a findeer problem with MacOs update.
This was my way:
1. Go dropbox folder in your finder
2. right click
3. go to "quick actions" (under tags) and click on submenu "customize"
4. a window "extentions" will open.
5. On left index go to "Finder extensions"
6. Deactivate and re-activate "Dropbox Finder Extension"
Now all works just fine!
2. right click4. a window "extentions" will open.6. Deactivate and re-activate "Dropbox Finder Extension"
Great Tip @Tomcor ! Impressed. You are on to something. You just need Dropbox or Apple to fix it.
This worked for me! Thnx a million!
Thanks! Very helpful.
@Tomcor 's tip saves you from restarting/relaunching the finder every time the contextual menus are lost. I keep the system preference window open to toggle the 'Dropbox Finder' integration check box throughout the day.
This feature is core. Dropbox needs to fix it.
That toggling the Dropbox Finder extensions on/off worked for me too.
Still, buggy buggy... I hope Dropbox fiexs this asap. I have ALL my files mirrored on dropbox, and this kinda stuff makes me very nervous.

In my experience the syncing still works, it just the right click menu that's gone. But annoying to have to keep toggling it during the day. Please fix Dropbox.
this worked! thank you!!
Thank you so much 4 that information 👏🏻🙌🏻
I don't know if this is a general solution, but I just downloaded Dropbox again and installed it (without removing my old copy). The problem went away.
Worked like a charm. Thank you!!
See if it stays.
Indeed it works....This keeps happening to me A LOT (a few times every day). The first time it happened (after I installed Big Sur) I contacted DB help and someone told me to delete the app, re-download and sync again - it worked very well. But soon it happened again... I thought it was a bit 'brutal' to delete and re-install the appevery time (not to mention the first big sync).
It was obvious that the problem was the finder extension - Dropbox worked well apart from that. I found a work-around that works perfectly: everytime the tiny blue/greee/grey icons disappear and no finder extensions, I go to System Preferences > Extensions and there un-click and click again the DropBox extension. Instantly everything starts working again.
It's a bit of a pain to have to do that everytime, but it works.I don't have many other extensions in my computer, but now I'm trying to identify if the culprit is another extension by having them all unchecked and trying to load them one by one. It's a bit tricky, because the problem appears to be ramdom.
It would be great to have a proper fix, but unchecking and checking the DB extension works!
Worked for me. Thank you!
Could be working but thats not really meant to be the Solution dear Dropbox! That's definitley no long time solution for our Company! Do something!
How is it going with this issue? It's been a while, and it's the same on LOADS of Macs i work with.
The easies solution i've found this far is to restart the finder app, then you get the icons back. But, as this is an old issue it should be fixed permanently.
Hi,I've submitted a ticket with the issue. The number is Ticket #12146809.
Many thanks
Hello @Daphne,
thankyou for your post.
As my "solution" just works temporally in my mac too, i posted a ticket hoping this can help the dropbox team to engage the issue.

Bests, Tommaso.
I implemented the temporary solution a week ago and, thankfully, no further issues since then.
