I have a handle leak from Dropbox?

My laptop is extremely slow and my webroot analyzer says I have a handle leak coming from Dropbox. How do I fix this?

Hi Jay,

Thanks for replying. I saw this article but fixed the issue myself. The laptop is my wife's and the Dropbox folder was located in an obscure area on the computer. I copied it and moved it to the Program files (x86) folder, rebooted and everything is working nomally as before. It looks like there was an update two days ago. Why the folder was where it was I couldn't say. But there was nothing in the Program files area.

I have the same problem. I tried to load the error message but keep getting a "unexpected error has occurred."

I have a SSD C: drive and a mechanical drive. My Dropbox folder is on the drive. The Dropbox.exe in on C: in program X86.

Not sure what to look for in terms of systems.

Hi @Mike V.6, could you try an advanced reinstall of the app if the steps in the previous article didn’t help.

Before I start a reinstall I'd like to make sure I have a problem. The only indication of an issue was Webroot saying I have a "possible" handle leak. I looked at task manager and Dropbox does not seem to be using a lot of CPU. Where else can I look to see why Webroot thinks I might have a possible leak?

If the Dropbox desktop application isn’t taking up a lot of CPU time, then there shouldn’t be a leak.

If you’re concerned about this, you can perform an advanced reinstall, otherwise if there’s no discernible effect on your CPU time, then you can ignore the warning.

Thanks. I am not sure how Webroot is measuring Handle Leaks. The old systems gave you a count. Can't find it with Win 10. I think I will truck on unless I see some issues that make me suspcious. Thanks for help.
