The box icon on system tray stays at gray and says "Starting...". But, when files are changed on another computer, they are being synced. Should I be concerned? Is there a fix?
Thanks.

Hi Dropbox,
My Dropbox has been starting and syncing since yesterday. It has not been able to finish loading. Please refer image below.
This is the first time showing this issue. Appreciate if you could advise what is the method to resolve this.

It looks like a confirmed, widespread issue. Let’s give Dropbox some time to get it fixed. Hopefully soon....
The issue is really on my work account:
[From Android]
So since yesterday both my desktop and laptop (both win 10 64 bit) App say "Dropbox is starting...." but it never starts. I tested that it is syncing without a problem just the icon stays greyed out and the App never starts. Running 54.4.90
I conatced tech support via email but so far they have not gotten back to me with a fix.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks
I am also having this problem on MacOS. Files sync but Dropbox is stuck forever starting. It looks like this issue is widespread. Please add this to you list of known issues, Dropbox.
Yeah, it seems like a widespread problem. I hope Dropbox fix it. Even if mine is working normally, the task icon bar is stuck in that "indexing..." thing. In Windows 10, it doesn't even appear in current tasks, like if it would be only a bug.
OK than you and thanks for removing info from the screen shot.
No problem, @wpfbedford! As mentioned before, should you have any other questions, just give us a shout. In the mean time, have a wonderful day ahead!
For us this problem is now resolved. I needed to restart one of the clients, but the others just started working with no effort from me.
So I would try a client restart if it's not started working for you, but they could be doing a staged rollout of the fix.
Significantly as well as the client working, the space is reporting correctly within our account again.
Windows 10 Surface Book
Suddenly, after no change that I'm aware of, the Dropbox icon in the system tray is gray, when I scroll over it says 'Starting' and when right click it says 'Dropbox is starting', continues for many hours with no change.
However on dropbox.com it is showing that my files have synced.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox.
I have scoured the community and other sources and can see nothing else on this.
Help please?
Update for me - Restarted my machine this morning and Dropbox is now stating 'indexing' instead of starting. With that said, it doesnt actually seem to be doing anything. No new files have been synced
All working fine today - synced and up-to date, thanks for sorting DB
Thanks a lot. It's working normally now.
I'm having the same issue. Black screen in the box after short File Loading when I'm trying to establish Smart Synch in this machine.
Hi @MichaelP; sorry to hear about this.
Can you quickly perform a reinstall of the desktop app on the affected computer and let me know if you're still seeing this?
If you do, I'd appreciate a screenshot as it would greatly help in pinpointing the cuplrit here.
Moreover, please provide me with some additional information such as the OS of the device at hand, the version of the desktop app you're using, if there are any 3rd party apps (antivirus programs for example) etc. and I'll be happy to investigate further.
Thanks so much!
