I do not get any error messages after doing the download, but when I go to Dropbox the videos are not there. I contacted Gumroad.com and they said it was a dropbox problem.
You can reach out to Dropbox Support but I'm willing to bet that Gumroad will need to talk to them themselves. Any direct connection like that is handled using the Dropbox API (a programming interface available to third-party developers for integrating Dropbox with their own apps). It's the third-party developers that use the API to build that connection. Dropbox won't know anything about it. If there's a problem between Gumroad and Dropbox, then Gumroad will likely need to contact Dropbox directly to resolve it.
How are you downloading the files?
Is there some direct connection between Gumroad and Dropbox where the files are saved directly to your account Dropbox account? If so, only Gumroad will be able to help you as they're the ones that would have created that interface.
Or are you downloading the files like you would any other download from the Internet and specifying the local Dropbox folder on your computer as the save location?
Hi, Rich,
Thank you so much for answering my question so quickly!
I am using the direct connection between Gumroad and Dropbox, and I asked them first about this. They said the problem was with Dropbox. So here I am.
thank you so much again. I will definitely reach out to Dropbox support.
Old topic I know, but...
I experience the same thing with the Gumroad->Dropbox connection. What I wound up discovering (by trial and error) is that it'll download if you tell Gumroad to save it to Dropbox, two times in a row. At least that's what's been working for me. That seems to belatedly trigger the transfer.
I do sometimes end up with two copies of everything 😅, but if I tell it to save only once, I can wait forever and nothing ever shows up.
It looks like something odd on the Gumroad side of the equation.
yes. me too. i cannot see the files which i have send to dropbox via https://gumroad.com
any suggestions?
You need to speak to them and ask for help.
Gumroad will not let you download videos to dropbox or computer as it prevents piracy. you can only add purchases to your library and watch online. This is what I am lead to believe after i just purchased some videos to put on my ipad for a long flight. However it was not said at the time I could not do that......
Gareth: Saving to Dropbox has some weird rough edges, but eventually works if you keep poking at it.
The iPad app lets you save them in-app without using Dropbox, by swiping the movie in question.
