Dropbox and Microsoft Word Dropbox app on Android linking error ("scope" length issue)

My Dropbox app (android) and Microsoft word app have been linked and working together fine. I had a file sync issue and simply disconnected Word from my Dropbox account in hope it'd solve it.

Now when I try to link the two apps again, I get this error:

I've tried everything: delete the cache for both apps, uninstall both apps and restart my phone, link Word to Dropbox from the Word app... No matter what I always get this same scope issue.

Is there a way to fix it?

As a first step, could you share a screenshot of the error message you see when trying to connect the apps? Also, what exact OS version are you using on your Android device?

Does this issue persist if you try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network? I know it sounds trivial, but could you also try temporarily disabling Wi-Fi to see if the issue remains over your cellular network?

When you mentioned that you tried linking Word to Dropbox from the Word app itself, did you follow these steps?

1. Open the Microsoft Word App
2. At the bottom of the page, choose "Open"
3. Choose "+ Add a place"
4. Select Dropbox and follow the prompts
