We really appreciate you posting your experience on this and what fixed the issue for you.

Generally, reverting to older versions of the app doesn't really permanently fix an issue like this, and the latest stable is what we're aiming for when using the Dropbox desktop app.

I'd definitely like to investigate this further, so if you do decide to update the Dropbox app to the latest stable version and you're still having this issue, can you please try the following steps (if you haven't already) and let me know how it goes?

Quit and relaunch the Dropbox desktop app.
Restart the device.
Confirm that the latest version of the Dropbox desktop app is installed.
If you have a VPN enabled, temporarily disable it and check whether the issue is resolved.
Temporarily disable any antivirus, anti-malware, or anti-ransomware software and test again.
If security software was active when the Dropbox app was originally installed, try reinstalling it rather than simply updating it, as a required component may not have been installed correctly (note: do not try this if you have the backup feature enabled on your computer).
Confirm whether context-menu items from other third-party applications appear normally.
Right-click on a file outside the Dropbox folder and check whether the Dropbox Transfer option appears.
Check whether the Dropbox icon overlays are enabled and displaying correctly.
If the issue persists, perform an advanced reinstall. (note: do not try this if you have the backup feature enabled on your computer and if you are on File Provider).
Confirm that Dropbox has Full Disk Access.
If multiple Dropbox folders exist, compare their contents before deleting either folder. If the old Dropbox folder contains files that are not in the current Dropbox folder, move them to the current folder before deleting the old one.

Dear Hannah:

THANKS for your message. I did try to do 'the fix' using the latest version (dropbox.com/download) and it did not work - there is a problem with the current build. I was VERY thankful that someone posted that they had fixed this problem by re-installing a previous version and sharing that link (the one above). Didn't fix it right away as I had to do the DB and Finder protocol mentioned above to get my menus back. After doing so, I figured I'd try that with the new 'stable version' and it would not work. Had to reinstall the old version and after DB had a few minutes to synch the contextual manus appeared. Also, to the best of my understanding there is no way to choose which files are 'online only' from inside the 'web portal' which is kind of a fail when it comes to having a VITAL FAILSAFE. When your hard drive is full and you depend on Dropbox as your virtual hard drive and you lose your contextual menus, you have no other option for 'online only' storage which is not a good protocol. Given how well DB works for almost anything, one of the engineers would have been screaming this should have been in the online portal, and their boss shoujld have listened. Collectively this is a HUGE problem that needs two fixes - an updated build (that I was told was going to be sent to me and wasn't, as well as a web based option for 'online only'. My $2.02 - happy to have my menus back:)

Thanks for your message. FYI, the 'specialist' who was handling my ticket went from Chloe who did nothing, to Gareth who was completely USELESS. Never actually answered my questions, kept plying me with useless fixes to the point where I figured I'd go on to the forums and find a solution by cobbling two responses together. My last response to him prior to your reaching out was the he had to be a bot and was lame. He FINALLY came back with a link even though I asked repeatedly. TOTALLY UNIMPRESSED. He should be working at MacDonalds, not in tech.

For Mac users who also lost the right click contextual DB menus and want to get them back…

To the best of my knowledge, v270 was an auto-upate that killed my right click contextual DB menus, most importantly my ability to make files 'online only' to conserve hard drive space. Fixing this was a two-step process that consisted of using an older stable version. Trying to reinstall v270 killed my menus again so I went back to the previous version. Since then v272 was released. My suggestion would be to…
