Can't get the Dropbox desktop app to backup SD cards on MacOS

I want to backup my SD cards (used in my mirrorless camera) directly to dropbox. I have managed to get dropbox to recognize one of them as an external drive and back it up, but it will not recognize the other one no matter what I do.

I have tried using the internal SD card reader and an external reader. So far only the external reader has worked, and only for the one card.

I do not want to use the camera upload feature for this. I'm trying to use the backup feature specifically.

On a mac (Tahoe 26.6.2)

Yes it works with the external SD card reader, just not the internal one. The internal drive otherwise works fine.

Hi @taciteloquence, if the SD card is plugged into the computer directly, then it's possible that it isn't detected as an external drive, but a removable drive, which is a little different in terms on how the computer and Dropbox.

If you connect the SD card into the external reader, does it get detected in the Dropbox desktop application?

I found the problem: one of the SD cards had the write protect switched on. I assumed that wouldn't matter since it's just copying from the card, but I guess dropbox needs write access to do that.

I still have the issue that dropbox doesn't recognize the cards when plugged into the internal SD card reader on the macbook pro. Any ideas of what might be causing that problem?
