Dropbox on Linux Fedora 44 not syncing

Dropbox has stopped syncing on my Fedora 44 linux installation. I'm getting this strange result:

eric@fedora:~$ dropbox version
Dropbox daemon version: 268.4.4124
Dropbox command-line interface version: 2026.01.15
eric@fedora:~$ dropbox start
Dropbox isn't running!
Dropbox is already running!
eric@fedora:~$ dropbox update
success!
eric@fedora:~$ dropbox status
Dropbox isn't running!
eric@fedora:~$ dropbox start
Dropbox isn't running!
Dropbox is already running!

Which seems contradictory.

I recently upgraded from Fedora 43 to 44. Could this be the cause? If so, what next steps?

Nothing seems to happen when I go into "Show Apps" and click on the Dropbox icon.

I tinkered around trying various things, including trying a new RPM, and now it's syncing. I have no idea what actually worked, as I got various error messages about conflicts which I may or may not have solved.
