Selecting "Make available offline" does nothing on my macOS 26.2.2.

Hello. In several files and folders in my Dropbox, clicking "Make Available Offline" does nothing. See the screen recording below. How do I resolve this?

The files with a green checkmark are ones I got it to download by opening the file in Preview. There are no special characters anywhere in the file path.

This is what I've tried:

Pausing and unpausing syncing multiple times
Closing and restarting Dropbox multiple times
Restarting the computer multiple times
Deleting the cache file in the main Dropbox folder
Preferences > Accounts > Fix Permissions
Preferences > Accounts > Fix Hardlinks
Relaunching Finder multiple times
Updating MacOS

Some time in the last few hours, all the files successfully downloaded… I'm not sure what did it or why it took so long to happen, but hopefully it doesn't happen again!

Could you try reinstalling the Dropbox desktop application, without uninstalling it first, by using this link?

Additionally, how much free disk space do you have on your Mac?

Whatever details you can provide, even if they seem small, will help us get to the bottom of this together.

Hello. I reinstalled Dropbox using that link and am now on 268.4.4124. I have 346 GB free. The files I tried downloading in the example before are 150kb JPEG files. I restarted the computer, let it continue trying for a couple hours, but no improvement yet.

Hey @ColbyN, can you clarify the current syncing status of your Dropbox app for me?

It says "Your files are up to date."
I am able to select these files and Make Available Offline on a different computer on my Dropbox account, and it works fine there. As I work on projects, other files do download or update. But these ones (in the original screen recording) and many others won't.

If you just double-click the files, do they get downloaded and open or does nothing happen when you do that too?
